Is Working as Night Better? - Weekly Newsletter

Welcome to our weekly newsletter!

13 April 2025

Hey friend,

I've been a bit slow in keeping up with social media for these past few weeks. Life has just been busy. It happens. But I'm still keeping Substack full of short, punchy ideas. See you there.

Some Thoughts

To communicate well, talk in pictures. When we communicate, we give facts and figures. We tell people this, that, and the other. We stand before them, earnest and dry, and give our opinions. To communicate better, animate your words with pictures. Create movement and dynamic, create personality, and make it personable. This way you take your ideas from black-and-white to full color.

What you will learn this week:

Working at Night. The Ultimate Guide to No-Distraction Productivity!

Your days are busy. They are filled with meetings, emails, reporting, video calls and endless distractions. But that is not all you need to do in the day. You also have a life to live. Home admin, kids schedules to manage, your yoga class, that expired drivers licence to renew. Or maybe you would just like to take a walk and drink a coffee, slowly. Without burning out.

Understanding the Night Shift Mentality

The idea of working at night might seem unconventional. However, breaking free from this mold can offer a myriad of benefits for project managers. I have something exciting to share. I made an app. And it’s free. Because I get asked this question literally every day: WhatHappenedWhen. So I made an app to help track exactly that. It’s a simple web based app (runs on your work computer) for project managers to quickly capture project events as they happen. Whether it’s a key decision, a delay, or a stakeholder update, simply type what happened and when it happened. You can view the timeline of project events and export it easily. It’s built for clarity, speed, and nothing else. No fluff. The app is currently in beta, so your feedback is especially valuable. Click the button below to sign up and I will personally send you the link! 😎

Until next time,

Welcome to our weekly newsletter! 6 July 2025 Hey friend, How do you feel about creating social media content? Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok etc? I ask because so many of the project managers I coach absolutely hate the idea of creating media. The unfortunate truth is that creating media creates brand. And brand is important in traditional as well as new job markets. Some Thoughts I listened to some research around presidential candidates around the world. The research shows overwhelmingly that...

Welcome to our weekly newsletter! 29 June 2025 Hey friend, So I was walking in the rain (I'm like a duck it seems) and I was thinking about how to learn better. Specifically with audio. The only real form of audio learning is podcasts and ebooks. On-demand learning is now easier than ever with ChatGPT and its friends. But mostly in the written word. YouTube is there for video but nothing great exists for audio. Got any suggestions? Some Thoughts The most important project management skill is...
